The number of migrant minors unaccompanied by adults in France in recent months grew more than two times and amounted to almost 900 people.
The youngest of them was barely 10 years, the study said the human rights organization France terre d’asile.
“From 24 to 26 August 2016, our census found 861 homeless minors in Calais, including 627 of them live in the camp “the jungle”, 202 located in the centre of temporary admission, and 32 located at the women’s center”, – stated in the message.
Human rights activists recalled that these last may, census indicate 343 unaccompanied minors. According to them, the children who beg in the jungle without parents and relatives, are immigrants, particularly from Sudan, Afghanistan, Eritrea and Ethiopia. “The situation is very worrying and requires urgent, sustained support, but also emphasizes the necessity of finding acceptable solutions for each of these minors,” said the organization.
According to human rights activists, to addressing the issue must become part of the immigration service of great Britain, who will find on its territory relatives of the children. France also needs to provide shelter part of the minors and engaged in their fate, convinced France terre d’asile.
As of 19 August, according to the Prefecture of the Department of Pas de Calais the total number of migrants in the “jungle” amounted to 6.9 thousand.

French officials have proposed to create a so-called “hot spots” in Calais where migrants could apply for asylum in the UK without crossing the English channel.
