On 30 September ended on the 26-th international film festival “Message to man”. The opening film of the festival this time was a documentary film by Werner Herzog “On the Internet: dreams of the digital world”. To participate in the festival were sent to about seven thousand applications from 80 countries of the world. In the “Message to man” demonstrates not only documentaries but also fiction, animation, games and short films.

Festival “Message to man”-2016 distributed the prizes
The first and one of the most coveted prizes of the festival “Message to man” – “For achievements in world cinema” – was received by the French Isabelle Huppert, who played a major role in the film “She” by famed Director Paul Verhoeven.

The prize named after Victor Astafyev was established by the Directorate of the festival “Message to man” in 2002. Given the Russian Director participated in the National competition, which reflects the themes of kindness, charity, love and respect to the world. Determines the winner of the national competition jury. The prize named after Pavel Kogan is awarded for the best Russian documentary short film, created in the tradition of the Leningrad Studio of documentary films (LSDF). Award “Pavel and Lyalya” established pursuant to LSDF Director Lyudmila Stanukinas (Kogan) in 2001 in memory of Pavel Kogan (1931 – 1998) – classic Patriotic documentary , outstanding Director, founder of the Leningrad school of documentary film. The award was presented by Ludmila Stanukinas – movie “My friend Boris Nemtsov”. The prize went to the film’s producer Max Tuula.
The prize of the Association DAN REVIVAL PROJECT memory-Tribute Gurevich awarded for best cinematography, provides a prize in the form of a bronze bas-relief and the diploma of the Association and the visit of the winner to France with your career goals. Association DAN REVIVAL PROJECT was established in 2003 on the initiative of parents and friends Tribute Gurevich – operator of the film “Boomer”, who was tragically killed in the Karmadon gorge in the film of Sergey Bodrov “the Messenger” (2002). The award was presented by Daniel’s mother Elena Gurevich Gurevich operator Ruslan Fedotov for the film “the Fires and the stars.” The prize went to the film’s Director, Sasha Voronov (national competition).
The prize EPTS “Bellona”. Environmental rights center “Bellona”- the St. Petersburg public organization, part of the international ecological Association BELLONA. Bellona awards a special prize to the best film showing the problems of the relationship between man and the environment. As a prize the winner gets a real tree to be planted in his honor at the ceremony. The award was presented by the press attache of the festival Dmitry Gubin Director of the film “AMA-San” Claudia Varian (Portugal).
The Prize Of Eclectic Translations. Translation company Eclectic Translations was awarded a special prize picture, most original, reflecting human nature. As a reward the winner gets Russian subtitles to this film. The prize is awarded to the film “10 meters”, Directors Axl Danielson and of Maximilien van Artika (Sweden). In the absence of the Directors at the festival, the prize was handed over to the Consul for culture of Sweden Louise Morsing.
The honorary prize of the President of the festival Director-documentarian Michael Litvyakov was awarded to the Director Pavel Medvedev, for the painting “the Land of Joseph.”

The first festival “Message to man” held in 1989, and then it included only documentaries, which struggled to find a way to the viewer. Since the separation from the MIFF festival has grown considerably, adding category, short, animated, games, animated films and retaining the prestigious “a” category.
