The typical Western diet – high in fat and sugar is dangerous not only for health, but for life.
This is the conclusion of researchers, who work at the medical school of Harvard University.

People who stick to it are more likely to be in the grave. A group of scientists conducted a study examining the data of over 5,000 British civil servants – 3775 men and 1575 women.

The average age of the subjects was 51 years. Every five years, starting in 1985, they passed the clinical examination, the results of which were then studied by scientists. In 2009, the researchers summarized the results and found that about three quarters of participants (73%) had experienced normal aging and 4% perfect, is not burdened with any chronic diseases or deterioration of the physical, mental and psychic abilities.

13% had experienced non-fatal cardiovascular diseases, such as stroke or heart attack. Nearly 3% died from the same problem. 7% died for other reasons. According to the researchers, those who followed the Western diet had half the odds of a healthy old age. At the same time, the rejection of the typical “Western set of products” (white bread, butter, cream, red meat) increase the likelihood of painless aging and reduced risk of premature death.
