According to the Institute of Physics of the Earth, the power of an earthquake in 1940 was 7.4 points, and the duration of underground vibrations – about 45 seconds. More than a thousand people died, many towns and villages located in the Vrancea region, were destroyed.
Another powerful earthquake happened in March 1977 when the strength of tremors in the epicenter was 7.2 points.
As reported, in the night from Friday to Saturday in Romania there was an earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale. Underground vibrations were felt in Moldova and Ukraine.
