The struggle with the elements mobilized fire brigades, rescue teams and other city services. “The rain and hail lasted for half an hour. Stormwater system in the city is in good condition, however, rain fell in such volume that several areas still flooded. The relevant services will carry out cleaning work during the whole night”, – told reporters the mayor of Rustavi Davit Jikia.

According to media reports, torrential rain and hail caused damage and a number of villages in the main wine region of Georgia – Kakheti, especially in Signagi and Sagarejoy areas. Meanwhile, according to the Governor of Kakheti Irakli shiolashvili, the damage would have been much more if not would be mounted in the region of anti-hail system “Delta” to disperse the supposedly hail-dangerous clouds.

“At the Signagi district produced 35 shots in Sagarejoy – 15, with the result that the castle was converted into small grain size. In the villages of the Sighnaghi district damaged about 100 acres of farmland, Sagarejoy district suffered the village of Tskarostavi, Badiauri and Candour.
