Strategic submarine “Dmitry Donskoy” serve in the fleet until at least 2020 and will participate in the testing of the upgraded version of the missile “Bulava”. TASS on Tuesday, June 21, said a source in the military industry.
“Until the end of 2019, the question of disposal of the “Dmitry Donskoy” will not rise, it will remain in the Navy and will be used for the throwing and flight tests modernized missile “Bulava”, the development of which leads the Moscow Institute of thermal technology”, — said the source.
Earlier, in may 2016, the General designer of the Moscow Institute of heat engineering Yuri Solomonov said that the modernized submarines of project 955A “Borey”, which will be built in the coming years, will have to adopt an improved version of the missile “Bulava”. He stressed that the “Bulava” was created 10-12 years and went natural, the process of updating engineering and technical solutions”.
“Dmitry Donskoy” (during the construction of the TK-208) — head in a series of heavy nuclear rocket submarines of strategic appointment of the project 941 “Akula”, which represented the largest submarines in the world.
