MINSK, June 26. People’s artist of the USSR, the actor of Russian theatre Rostislav Yankovsky died in Minsk. This was reported in Facebook the Belarusian screenwriter, playwright Andrey Kureichik.

“He died a great artist and a great man Rostislav Yankovsky,” wrote Kureichik.

Civil funeral on Rostislav Yankovsky will take place at the National academic drama theatre named after M. Gorky in Minsk on 28 June, said in a statement on the website of the theatre.

Death of Rostislav Yankovsky “heavy and irreplaceable loss for the family, for friends and for millions of fans of his talent, a huge loss for the art, the service of which he devoted all his life”. “A great actor will always be cast, brilliantly played by them,” – noted in the theater in which the actor served since 1957.

 

BIOGRAPHY

People’s artist of USSR and BSSR was born on 5 Feb 1930. Honorary citizen of the city of Minsk, laureate of the State prize of Belarus, the Union state prize in literature and arts award “For spiritual revival”. The actor has played more than 160 roles, about 30 of them in the movie.

Rostislav Yankovsky was permanent Chairman of the Minsk international film festival Listopad. For the big contribution to development of Belarusian culture, the actor was awarded the order of Francysk Skaryna and order of the Fatherland III degree.
