As revenues from the sale of resources has decreased dramatically and access to Western capital is very limited, Moscow “feverishly” looking for new sources of revenue, says the publication.
The phenomenon of “garage economy” in Russia has a long tradition, writes Die Welt. Its roots it takes in the days of the Soviet Union, when garages have started to use as small workshops, so as “to fill the gaps in the planned economy.”
To this day, in the garage of the Russians is boiling all kinds of activities, from making furniture to cutting hair, the newspaper reports. “One thing unites them all: no one pays taxes”.
