CIA Director John Brennan has struck the world community to the revelations which he made in connection with US policy in the middle East and North Africa. It follows that the “Arab spring”, due in early 2011, with the help of Washington to Tunisia, Algeria, Egypt, Yemen and some other countries in the region, was a mistake. And the current chaos in Iraq, Libya and Syria — a consequence of not quite correct understanding of the mentality of former nomads, “a provincial view of the world”.
That his Agency completely incorrectly predicted the outcome of the “Arab spring”, the main U.S. intelligence officer admitted in his speech on 14 July at the Brookings institution in Washington, reports Russia Today. According to intelligence, al-Qaeda and other terrorist groups were weakened after the wave of protests. But instead weakened the Central power. And extremist groups began to gain strength. And in the end, according to Brennan, the events of 2011, endorsed by the leaders of many Western countries, has led to the growing influence of terrorist organizations around the world.
However, the contribution of the United States in destabilizing the situation in the middle East did not stop, as you know, the “Arab spring”. They with fire and sword tried to “democratize” Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya. But brought to these countries only death, fear, hatred and destruction.
And now the head of the CIA told the democracy and the middle East are incompatible.
“Sometimes I think that some people in Washington don’t quite understand the specifics of the middle East, and the interest of this part of the world towards democratization”, — quotes the statement of Brennan to Yahoo, the RIA “Novosti”.
The concept of Western democracy, in his opinion, is perceived here as an alien. Because “two generations ago, even one generation ago, it was a society of nomads with a long tradition and quite a provincial view of the world”.
