Raw carrots have long been recognized as one of the most useful products
As a rule, recommend this vegetable to young children and adults but it is useful to include in your diet carrots. Recent scientific studies have shown that carrots contain beta-carotene, which improves lung function, as in non-smokers and heavy smokers.
Beta-carotene is a precursor of vitamin A and has antioxidant properties (prevents the formation of free radicals, which have damaging effect on cells). Beta-carotene is found in carrots, red pepper, pumpkin, mango and other red and orange fruits and vegetables, as well as in spinach and broccoli. Vitamin E is also a potent antioxidant. The main sources of vitamin E serve as vegetable oil, avocado, sunflower seeds, fatty fish, eggs.
According to scientists, the positive effect of beta-carotene and vitamin E is associated with their antioxidant properties these substances block free radicals generated in the lungs when exposed to tobacco and some other factors, in particular pollutants contained in the air. But do not forget that although beta-carotene and vitamin E have a positive impact on the functioning of the lungs, these substances are not able to protect the smoker and other consequences of harmful habits in particular of lung cancer and cardiovascular disease.
