Called milk with the “sleep” effect

Названо молоко с "усыпляющим" эффектомDoctors said the milk has a hypnotic effect and why.

The milk was milked the night, helps against insomnia and obsessive anxiety. In any case, according to Korean researchers who published an article in the Journal of Medicinal Food – comparing the behavior of rats, which are fed daily with milk, with those fed the night milk, the authors found that the night milk has great calming, sedative effect that after the animals sleep longer and are less prone to physical activity.

On the other hand, be sober, and they are actively exploring new territory, that speaks of reduced anxiety – roughly speaking, after a night milk the rats began to fear less. The effect was the same as after diazepam, widely known sedative and hypnotic drug. (If this gave milk after processing: it is first converted into powder form, and then milk powder diluted with water.)

Day milk can also work as a relaxing agent, but in less degree than the night. For example, when rats filled day or night with milk, or a solution of diazepam or just water, put on the rotating drum and watched the activity and motor coordination of rodents, the milk after a night rat fell off the drum two times more frequently than after daily. (In turn, after diazepam, the animals dumped from the device two times more often than after a night of milk.)

Comparative biochemical analysis showed that milk in the night compared to day contains 24% more of the amino acid tryptophan, which stimulates sleep, and 10 times more of the hormone melatonin, which regulates circadian rhythms. Obviously, sleepy cows affects milk composition, which is formed from them at night. On the other hand, electroencephalography anything unusual rhythms of the brain after a night’s milk was not, while the diazepam had characteristic abnormalities, reflecting the sedative effect of the drug.

It is worth noting that the new results – not so new: a decade ago we wrote about the fact that the Finnish economy started producing night milk, and then also discussed that in the night milk a lot more of the sleep hormone melatonin. However, to ensure that it could actually be a good sedative and hypnotic not only for rodents but also for people who need further clinical studies.
