Doctors from the University hospital Landspitali (Iceland) concluded that by 2060 the number of people with diseases of the cardiovascular system will increase by approximately three times.
Now heart failure is a widespread disease that affects people in all parts of the world. It is exacerbated by other diseases such as obesity, diabetes or coronary disease.
Such illnesses are often diagnosed in older people. Researchers analyzed medical history to approximately 6,000 older people living in the territory of Iceland, aged 66 to 98 years. They suffer from the symptoms of diseases of the cardiovascular system. The researchers found that such diseases more common in males (4.8 per cent) than women (2.8 percent). On the development of heart problems, in addition to sex, age and influence among the citizens 69 years, this disease was diagnosed in almost 2 % and in 80 years – 6%.
Therefore, according to Icelandic scientists, the number of CVD patients by 2040 will increase twice, and by 2060, three times. This will affect the economic situation in the world and will cause problems in the functioning of the health system.
