Goalkeeper Italy and Juventus ‘ Gianluigi Buffon won the prestigious international award “Golden Foot”.
Buffon became the 14th winner of the prize, awarded to players older than 28 years for the highest sports individual and team achievements. Veteran goalie shop – the first representative of his role, left the prints of his feet on the walk of Champions in Monaco.
In voting Buffon beat Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Wayne Rooney, Edinson Cavani, Frank Lampard, Iker Casillas, Andrea Pirlo, Kaka and Thiago Silva.
Buffon deservedly included in the top ten goalkeepers in football history – the Italian was world champion in 2006, took the silver at Euro 2012, nine times won the Serie A and twice played in the final of the Champions League.
At club level, Buffon in the “Parma” and “Juventus” played 808 games, and in the Italian national team spent 165 matches. Thus, at the end of the current season, the legendary goalkeeper can overstep the mark 1000 games played.
In addition to Gianluigi Buffon, the winners of the award “Golden Foot” was Roberto Baggio, Pavel Nedved, Ronaldo, Alessandro Del Piero, Roberto Carlos, Ronaldinho, Francesco Totti, Ryan Giggs and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Didier Drogba, Andres Iniesta, Samuel Eto’o and Ukrainian Andriy Shevchenko.
