Belarus will pay for gas from Russia of $100 – media

Беларусь будет платить за газ из РФ $100 - СМИ

It is 30% cheaper than current prices.

The authorities of Russia and Belarus agreed on a new pricing formula for Russian gas, writes “Kommersant” with reference to sources familiar with the discussions.

It is clarified that the scheme was adopted after several meetings of representatives of ministries and Deputy Prime Ministers of the two countries. Because of this scheme, the price of Russian gas for Minsk will be 30% less than the current — from $132 per thousand cubic meters to $100.

In 2017 1 thousand cubic meters of gas will cost Minsk about 6 thousand rubles.

According to the publication, the new scheme assumes that the price of gas for Belarus will be calculated in rubles. This method of pricing will reduce the risks of Belarus, occurring against the backdrop of fluctuations in the dollar.

From the beginning of 2017, the price will be determined based on the average rates of the unified gas supply system of Russia, multiplied by the multiplying factor. The multiplying factor will gradually decline and by 2025 the price of gas for Belarus will be equal to the price for Russian consumers.

Sources note that the scheme agreed upon at the working level and are to be approved at the highest level.

As reported, the Vice-President of USA Joe Biden called the project of gas pipeline Nord stream-2, which involves Gazprom and energy companies of the EU, a “bad deal” for Europe as a whole.
