Banks of Ukraine surrender one after the other

Two Ukrainian banks withdrew the license. Eliminated were “Sofia Bank” and Bank “Petrocommerce-Ukraine”.

Press service of the National Bank of Ukraine reported about the withdrawal of licenses from two Ukrainian banks.

Previously, banks used a “resuscitation” measures. They had introduced a temporary administration of Fund of guaranteeing the deposits of individuals. However, these measures did not help insolvent banks to stay afloat.

It is reported that already at the time of assignment of the Bank “Petrocommerce-Ukraine” in the category of problem, the Bank carried out a large number of customer transactions in the fixed period. After the number of outstanding transactions has exceeded 30%, the Bank has classified under the category of the insolvent. Even earlier, on 22 December 2015, this category was assigned and the Bank “Saint Sophia” due to the loss of liquidity.

Representatives of the NBU said that the leadership of both banks are unable to take appropriate measures to exit the crisis. On this basis the leadership of the NBU has adopted a decision about liquidation of banks.

In 2014 in Ukraine were recognized as insolvent banks 70.
