Employees of the Department of natural resources Michigan found that fishermen caught in the trap of the red-bellied PACU (Piaractus brachypomus) – close a “vegetarian” relative of the carnivorous piranha. This fish feeds on plant food. It has powerful jaws, capable of grinding nuts. Adults grow to 88 cm in length and reach a weight of 25 kg.
The teeth of the red-bellied PACU are very similar to human, so the fish is very popular among aquarists. In Michigan she does not live because it likes a warmer climate.
