Double agent that influenced the outcome of the First World war.
Not only Mata Hari became famous as a spy. There were other women that are much more skillfully cope with their spy duties. One of them was Richard March, or Alouatta. It is considered one of the greatest women spies during the First world war. However, her life was not so rosy.
So, with a 16-year-old girl traded in prostitution and worked in a brothel for soldiers. She later escaped to Paris, where she met her future husband Henri Richard. A wealthy man bought the plane on which Martha learned to fly. She was one of the first women in France, obtained a pilot’s license. The press have dubbed the girl with Alouette (translated as “Skylark”.
In 1914 her husband died in the war. She hoped to become a military pilot, but in combat aircraft it was taken. Each husband of Martha, captain Georges Ledoux offered the girl to engage in espionage for the benefit of France. After training, she became a spy. The first assignment has led Marta to Spain, where she met a naval attache of Germany, Baron Hans von Kron. The man became her lover and offered to work for German intelligence.
France Alouette came back as a German spy. Despite this she continued to work in the interests of France. Mar managed to prevent several acts of sabotage, to expose several German agents, to uncover the route by which the Germans smuggling brought to France the explosives.
In 30-ies she released his memoirs, which glorified her all over the country. During the Second world war Mar Richard participated in the Resistance. She later struggled with prostitution. On her initiative adopted the law on the closure of the brothels, which is called the “law of Martha Richard”. Auletta died in 1982 at the age of 92.
