The annual carnival in London celebrates its 50th anniversary.
Thousands of people braved the rain, took to the streets of London, to take part in the colourful Notting Hill carnival.
A leading role in the carnival played by the representatives of the British Afro-Caribbean community, particularly people from the Islands of Trinidad and Tobago, which accounted for a significant portion of residents of Kensington and Chelsea in the 1950s. The regulars got up at dawn to throw at each other paint, mud, chocolate and butter while dancing.
The annual carnival in London celebrates its 50th anniversary. More than a million people will participate in the two-day celebration, the highlight of which will be a big parade.
