In the United States of America has always been something special. President Abraham Lincoln called the us “the last, best hope of Earth.” President Ronald Reagan said we were a “shining city on the hill.” And Robert Kennedy called us great, selfless and compassionate country.
I completely agree with this.
If there is some fundamental idea that drove me and inspired me throughout my political career, it is this: USA is an exceptional country. And if you add to this all our dignity, it will become clear that we are also an indispensable country — a country where everyone else sees the leader.
America is an indispensable partly because we have the greatest army in the world with the best soldiers, training and technology. Now it is extremely important to do everything possible to support our men in uniform and our veterans.
America is an indispensable thanks to our network of alliances established in the decades of diplomatic efforts. Russia and China can’t match us. Our allies to increase our power, contribute to our defense system and support us in both tranquil and troubled times, as happened when NATO declared that the September 11 attacks are an attack on all Alliance members. The output of our alliances now would be a huge mistake.
America is indispensable, because we have the largest and most dynamic economy in the world. Our people are able to beat all in this world. And our businesses every day a new amazing company.
First of all, America is the indispensable and exceptional because of our values. As Secretary of state, I was proud to represent dedication to our country’s values of freedom, equality and opportunity. The world takes us with an example in the protection of human rights, the protection of the rights of the LGBT community, religious and ethnic minorities, women, people with disabilities and all those who seek to live in peace. We make ourselves and other Nations to improve. That is why so many people from all over the world want to become Americans.
However, with these advantages comes great responsibility: we must continue to remain a leader in the world. Because when America can not play the role of a leader, we leave behind a vacuum that extremism gives the opportunity to take root, emboldens our enemies and undermines our friends courage.
Of course, this does not mean that people living in other countries feel a national pride in other countries also have a responsibility to make them help us in solving global problems. However, America has unsurpassed ability to be a force for peace, progress and prosperity of the entire planet. And if we perform the role with such force, it makes our own country more secure and strong.
Let us always do good and stay great. Let America will always be exceptional.
