Western human rights organizations demand to exclude Russia from the UN human rights Council

Humanitarian organizations initiate Russia’s expulsion from the UN Council on human rights.

More than 80 humanitarian organizations urged member countries of the United Nations to exclude Russia from the UN Council on human rights (HRC) because of the situation with Syria.

In his address, they urge member countries of the HRC “to wonder whether the role of Russia in Syria, which, in particular, supports and undertakes military operations, the target of which systematically become civilians and civilian objects, and to sit in the main intergovernmental instance the UN responsible for human rights.

Elections to the UN Council on human rights held in the General Assembly on October 28. For the two seats allocated to the Eastern European States, expect three countries: Russia, Hungary and Croatia. The number of candidates also includes Egypt, China, Cuba, Rwanda and Saudi Arabia.
