This was stated on Friday, the Minister of foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov following a bilateral meeting with the foreign Ministers of Syria and Iran and tripartite negotiations.

Lavrov indicated that Moscow, unlike their Western counterparts, intends to bring the matter to combat terrorism.

“We also expressed a common belief that all States should strictly follow the fundamental principles of international law, including non-interference in internal Affairs, renunciation of the threat of use of force and settlement of disagreements by political means, – said Lavrov. We agree that attempts to impose prescriptions from outside, the use of double standards is unacceptable, and that all issues should be resolved in a mutually respectful and equal basis through negotiations.”
“I supported the attitude of the Syrian leadership on the resumption of the political process on the basis of decisions of the International support group in Syria and UN security Council resolutions, the Minister said. – We welcomed the assurances of the Minister of foreign Affairs of Syria Walid Muallem that the delegation of the Syrian government are ready tomorrow to come to Geneva for negotiations under the auspices of the UN with representatives of all opposition groups, and require the UN security Council’s decisions”.
Lavrov pointed out that Russia and Iran welcomed on Friday confirmed the readiness of Damascus to expand cooperation with the UN in addressing humanitarian issues.
