VTB intends to close the headquarters in London for Brexit

After the referendum on Brexit, the Russian VTB intends to close its European headquarters in London and carry her to the continent – Frankfurt, Paris or Vienna. This was stated by the Deputy Chairman of the Bank Herbert Moos.

 

VTB Bank closes its European headquarters in London and moved to the continent. Such decision the management of the Bank adopted in connection with the referendum on Brexit, on which the inhabitants of great Britain decided to withdraw from the EU.

The Board of Directors of VTB needs to make this decision before the end of the year. “We had big plans for our London office, but after a Brexit we downsized, we will grow in other places,” – said the MEP. According to him, a place for a new office can be found in Frankfurt, Paris and Vienna.

As told in the VTB, the decision to leave London due to a British exit from the European Union. The Bank believes that after London finally leave the EU, it will be impossible to satisfy a number of requirements of the European financial regulators.
We note that VTB became the first major Bank, accepted such decision in connection with the withdrawal of Britain from the EU.

A referendum on the UK’s membership of the European Union was held on 23 June 2016. According to voting results, the majority of people in the United Kingdom (51.9%) expressed the desire to leave the European Union.
