Vaccinations: protection of the nation or a profitable business?

Прививки: защита нации или выгодный бизнес?

We all once were vaccinated against various diseases: smallpox, tuberculosis (BCG vaccine) and other — all this instills in children at a very early age. However, few people think about what vaccinations are, how they are helpful or harmful to the body. Let’s try to understand.

1

People and diseases

Throughout its history mankind has suffered from epidemics. Sometimes they arose from neglect of hygiene (especially medieval Europe), sometimes the causes of disease remained unclear. However, such serious diseases as plague and smallpox, had decimated people hundreds of thousands. And even today, when seemed to be the most terrible infectious diseases defeated mankind and then stands on the threshold of a new outbreak.

Bird flu, mad cow disease, swine flu, Ebola — here is a partial list of what scares people in the twenty-first century.
However, people are pretty long noticed that people who had had any infectious disease, they no longer infected. These observations gave rise to the idea of vaccinations.

2

To the origins of vaccination

Who and when first noticed, the one, who hits an open wound the pus from a ripe smallpox abscess patient never infected with smallpox, history is silent, but it happened long before appeared the very concept of vaccination. However, in the middle ages practiced inoculation — a process similar to modern vaccination. He was known in different countries — from China to Africa, Russia and Scandinavia. Thanks to this simple procedure, during outbreaks, was able to relieve the painful death of hundreds of people. Although, I must say, not all agreed to be infected with smallpox, even in mild form — human fear was stronger than faith in scientific thought.

Vaccus means “cow”

In the eighteenth, the English doctor Edward Jenner noticed that milkmaids almost never infected with smallpox. This gave him the idea that it is possible to vaccinate smallpox, not human with the same result. His experiments gave a positive effect — those who were vaccinated with cow pox, a human has not been infected. So Edward Jenner was the discoverer of the vaccine (from the Latin “vaccus” – “cow”). Later vaccines began to be called any products that have a culture of the causative agent introduced into the body as vaccinations.

How does it work?

What is immunity? Let’s look at this process from the inside.

Any foreign organism — bacteria, virus (antigen) enters the body, there causes a reaction, which is expressed in the production of antibodies (the so-called reaction “antigen-antibody”). This is reminiscent of the battle of the two armies when on the same side fighting the aggressors who wants to subjugate new territories, and the other defenders of the aggressor is trying to keep out. The more antigen enters the body, the more antibody is produced. Moreover, these antibodies remain in the body, so again like the aggressor they will not be allowed — this is due to the lifelong immunity against the disease. And there is an interesting nuance: the reaction “antigen-antibody” applies equally in relation to the living and respect the dead cultures of the causative agent. That is, if injected into the body of the dead culture, that disease is not the cause, and the production of antibodies prostimulirujte.

Thus, vaccination is the introduction into the body of a dead culture of the pathogen to develop immunity.

Childhood immunizations: the harm and the benefit

Today, every child in hospital receives the required number of vaccinations in order to protect it for the future. But is it harmless these shots?

When the vaccine, even if consisting of dead culture is injected into the body, it causes a reaction — in fact, the disease in a mild form. But if such vaccines at the same time introduced a few? That is, the body perevalivaet simultaneously from several serious diseases. Of course, this is not the best way affects the General condition of the body. Therefore, at the time of vaccination the child should be absolutely healthy, and even considerable discomfort already is a contraindication. But is it ignored by doctors who instilled in all children without regard to individual characteristics?

Yes, parents can refuse vaccinations, taking all the responsibility for the health of their baby. But how much ordeal they have this pass! How many references to collect (and for the nursery and for kindergarten and school)! And anyway unlikely to avoid all vaccinations, for example, when in school the whole class sent to a doctor who will listen to the child, if he says that his parents are against it?

Flu vs human

The last time that year, it appears a new disease as a subject of intimidation. Remember the boom around Salmonella in eggs, which erupted in the 90s? Then followed all sorts of “animal” flu (avian, swine), mad cow, Ebola, etc. the Press wrote about the many cases in different countries, but it was somewhere far away, and a number of people were sick except that banal SARS. However, psychosis was gaining momentum, increasingly on the streets and in the stores you could see people in gauze bandages (which, by the way, doesn’t save), and in schools and enterprises with might and main advertised grafting from “raging epidemics”.

Of course, even ordinary flu is a serious disease with a certain percentage of deaths and is dangerous for its complications. Moreover, the flu virus is constantly mutating (in one season may receive 2-3 new type of flu), so the immunity developed as a result have been ill, passes before the next strain, so that a person may suffer an unlimited number of times. It follows that a universal flu vaccine is not and can not be.

It is significant that in the fall of 2015 from vaccinations against the flu refused 90% of Russians.

“Pig” placed humanity

Winter 2016 marked the return of the already acclaimed in 2009, swine flu. The same virus affects humans and pigs, but little is known of the cases transferred from animals to humans. The disease occurs in severe form, among other things affecting the blood system.

Of course, there was a swine flu vaccine.

According to Western analysts at the same time sharply increased the share price of some pharmaceutical companies producing the vaccine. Moreover, the epidemic appeared as it is impossible by the way, switched the attention of the world community, previously occupied by the economic crisis and the wars. All this makes me think about the artificial origin of the H1N1 strain – too much time it arose.

Conclusion: the feast during the plague

Of course, the very idea of vaccination is nothing wrong, and during epidemics they may be the only protection from the deadly disease. But remember how and why today have a computer virus. Write them to subsequently sell antivirus software and earn a lot of money.

Pharmacology is one of the most profitable businesses in the world, because people are willing to pay any money to get rid of the disease. So why then not benefit from the experience of colleagues from the world of information technology?

Although, of course, direct evidence of artificial origin of the virus swine flu as well as the rumors that the inoculation from it is not harmless to health, are just rumors.
