The US is ready to work with Russia to resolve the conflict in Syria, but Moscow needs to show its commitment to such work. This was stated by President Barack Obama.
“Direct Russian involvement in these actions (the government of Syria – ed.) raises very serious questions regarding their obligations,” Obama said after a meeting of the national security Council at the Pentagon.
“The United States remains ready to work with Russia to reduce violence and strengthen our efforts against the “Islamic state” and al-Qaeda in Syria. But so far Russia has failed to take the necessary steps. Given the deteriorating situation, Russia should show that it is serious about the fulfillment of those purposes (the resolution of the conflict – ed.)”, – he said.
We will remind, in Syria since February 27, the agreement on a cease-fire. The document, in particular, implies that military action proceed only against the terrorist organizations identified in UN Security Council.
