Украина vs Польша: чей геноцид круче

MP Oleg Musiy has submitted to the Verkhovna Rada a draft resolution on commemoration of the victims of the genocide committed by the Polish government regarding the Ukrainians in the years 1919-1951.

Ukrainian MPs have prepared a response to the Polish Sejm, recently recognized the genocide of poles during the Volyn tragedy. In Museum the document, in particular, it is proposed to appoint a Day of remembrance of the genocide of the Ukrainians by the poles on March 24. In the explanatory note to the document says: “the History of Ukrainian lands under the rule of the Second Polish Republic, people’s Poland is a history of injustice, oppression, repression, repression — the story of the genocide of the Ukrainian people systematically and consistently perfect Polish government”.

We are talking, primarily, about the resettlement of ethnic Ukrainians from lands (Kholmshchyna, Podlasie, Przemysl land), which became part of Poland after the Second world war. Also, the authors of the resolution mention the fact that in the mid 30-ies of the last century, the poles had carried out the pacification, when in fact the Ukrainians have suffered as a national minority in the policies of Jozef Pilsudski and his successor Edward rydz-Smiglego. In the course of military-police operations in the Malopolska suffered peaceful Ukrainian population — dozens of people were killed and more than five thousand were arrested, 500 houses were burned.

“It’s definitely a symmetrical response. If the poles adopted a resolution concerning the victims of the Volyn tragedy, in this situation Ukrainian politicians operate on the principle, “receive the fascist a grenade”.

If not for these facts, would have found other facts. It would be possible to adopt a resolution on the genocide of the Ukrainian people in XVI–XVII centuries, the time of the Commonwealth. Ukraine and Poland are so complicated history of relations, Dating back to the II century to the present day, to find mutual leads and claims not difficult”,- said political analyst Kost Bondarenko.

Unfriendly ally

But the poles did not go far and was not looking for clues in the distant middle ages. For a start, gave a political assessment of the bloodiest page in the history of relations between the two countries. Polish Parliament last month adopted a resolution according to which the Volyn tragedy recognized as genocide that was committed by Ukrainian nationalists against the poles. Just voted for the resolution of 432 deputies. Abstained 10 members. Against voted for no one. Ukraine took the news as a provocation.

The Ukrainian deputies were indignant, and the head of the Institute of national remembrance Vladimir viatrovych, actually, he wrote on his page in social networks that a political solution of the poles is an expression of pity not for the dead people and lost territories. To mitigate the situation tried by the President of Petro Poroshenko, urging the Polish people to unity and reconciliation. Despite the fact that Poland for the last two years was an ardent advocate of Ukraine in the European Union, about their “Agency” poles never forgot. Under the guise of a friendly ally had a neighbor with Imperial phantom pain. Not for nothing are increasingly in nationalist circles Western neighbor began to harp on the subject of restitution. So at the end of last year, the initiative to reclaim their former property in Western Ukraine, which belonged to the poles before the Second world war made the Polish organization “Restitution Borderlands”. “Restitutory” said that ready-made suits in the courts of Kiev and Lutsk, and even to the European court of human rights in Strasbourg. “A number of Polish MEPs are ready to work in this direction”, — said the head of the organization Conrad Renkas at the presentation of “Restitution Kresy” in Polish Wroclaw.

In Poland always was a group called krashovani. The descendants of massively resettled poles from the territory of Galicia after world war II. They were moved to the territory annexed to Poland, previously owned by Germany. They periodically raised the issue of property rights in any of the gangways Crecy — now Western Ukraine. While their initiatives are considered marginal even in Poland itself and do not have support in power. However, with recent bilateral Ukrainian-Polish relations began to deteriorate. The recognition of the genocide at the national level in both countries — one more proof.

And any talk of territorial claims only fueled interest in the subject of radical and nationalist groups, which have a great impact in both countries. “Ukraine and Poland came to power, the militant populists who base their policies on pseudoradicular and national memory, says Kost Bondarenko. The current post-Maidan domestic elite and the ruling party “law and justice” in Poland guided it to the electorate with conservative views, for which national memory is an important element of identity.”

In this vein, an interesting personality and the new Ambassador of Poland in Ukraine Jan Inferno, assigned to Kiev for days. It is close to that of the party itself “peace”. So do not expect in the near future, the warming of Ukrainian-Polish relations. On the contrary. Official Warsaw has already responded to the initiative of Ukrainian parliamentarians. Rafal Sobczak, a spokesman for the Polish foreign Ministry said: “the Title of the draft resolution makes us wonder”. And called it a “random event”.
