Ankara is not going to undertake a ground operation in Syria without the decision of the international coalition or UN Security Council. This was stated by the permanent representative of Turkey to the UN Halit Cevik, reports Anadolu news Agency.
Cevik noted that Ankara “supports the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Syria.” The Ambassador said that Turkey “is in the crosshairs of terrorist organizations and to exercise their right to self-defence”.
According to Civica, the Syrian Kurdish party “Democratic Union” (PYD) is “not at war with “Islamic state” (IG, banned in Russia — approx. “The tape.ru”)”. “The territory that they captured, were under the control of the moderate opposition. (…) Turkey has shelled Syria in self-defense, he said. Turkey acts within the framework of international law”.
