Turkey demands that the U.S. arrest and extradition of Gulen’s opposition

Turkey demanded the arrest in the United States of opposition leader Fethullah Gulen. As reported by Reuters, Ankara it has been implicated in the failed coup attempt.

According to the Minister of justice of Turkey Bekir Bozdag, there is “enough evidence that a coup attempt was organized according to his will and according to his orders.”

Ankara also sent Washington a formal request for the extradition of the preacher. “We have sent to the United States four folders of documents for the extradition of Gulen, – said the Prime Minister Binali Yildirim. – We will provide them with more evidence about his involvement in the mutiny), than they themselves want.”

Earlier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the two States signed an agreement on extradition of criminals. “When the United States requested to extradite its citizen, we fulfill this request. In such matters there should be cooperation,” he stressed.

In the night from 15 to 16 July, a group of military attempted a coup in Turkey. However, the rebellion was suppressed. The clashes killed 290 people, about 1,5 thousand have got wounds. On charges of organizing the coup have been detained more than 9 thousand people, including more than 100 generals and admirals, judges, prosecutors, employees of the office of the Prime Minister, the office for religious Affairs, about 8 thousand police officers suspended from work.
