Turkey and China make breakthrough on the way to the Central corridor

China seeks to revive the Great silk way on the basis of three “corridors”. In the Central corridor, which involved Turkey, he will invest eight trillion dollars. Grand national Assembly of Turkey (TGNA) made two giant step in the direction of the silk road project, which opens many important prospects in the economic, social, cultural and tourism sectors.

We are talking about the approval of the parliamentary Commission of laws on Chinese-Turkish agreements in the framework of the “Great silk road” and “railway cooperation, envisaging a budget of 40 billion dollars and investments in the amount of $ 750 million per year.

China is committed to gradually implement a three-stage project “Belt and road”. The project is worth 21 trillion dollars will be implemented with the participation of 65 countries. It will include the Northern corridor, which will pass through Russia, the southern corridor, which will pass through Iran, and the “Central corridor”, which connects Turkey and Europe with the Central Asian republics, Afghanistan, Pakistan and China.

Turkey and China signed a “Memorandum of understanding on coordination of efforts within the Economic zone of the silk road, Maritime silk road of the XXI century and the Central corridor” and the “agreement on Turkish-Chinese railway cooperation”. The bills were approved by the Commission on foreign Affairs of the TGNA.

The most important component

“The Central corridor is one of the most important components of the project for the revival of the historical Great silk road”, — said the Deputy Minister of foreign Affairs of Turkey, Ali Naji Bark (Ali Naci Koru). According to Bark, the most important advantage for Turkey will be that the route of the Central corridor is an alternative to the Northern corridor, in which Russia participates, and the southern corridor, which involved Iran.

The representative of the Chief of foreign relations Department of the Ministry of transport, Maritime and communication of MERT Işık (Mert Işık) noted that the budget for the Central corridor, through which China is planning to provide integration with Europe, is expected to reach eight trillion dollars, and only transport lines in the early years is expected to spend $ 40 billion.

The railway will connect

Bill, associated with the “agreement on rail cooperation”, which is another important document signed between Turkey and China, was also approved by the parliamentary Commission. Under the bill, which in the coming days needs to be approved at the General Assembly of the TGNA, the length of railway track that will be created in the framework of the Great silk road, is about two thousand kilometers. China plans to build high-speed railway between China and Britain, which will connect Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Iran, Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Austria, Germany, Belgium and France. The project, estimated cost of which is 150 billion dollars, is planned to be completed in 2020-2025.

Swap Turkish Lira yuan and the network of sister cities

The draft law “On ratification of the Memorandum of understanding between Turkey and China in the area of coordination within the Economic zone of the silk road, Maritime silk road of the XXI century and the Central corridor” involves the following measures.

— Political coordination. The parties shall continuously maintain a dialogue and exchange information in the area of its major development strategies, plans, policies. The parties shall strengthen communications and coordination in dealing with macro -.

— Facilitating communication. The parties will cooperate in the framework of bilateral infrastructure projects in Turkey, China and third countries, including as motorway, railway, civil aviation, sea ports, and oil and gas pipelines, power lines, telecommunications. The parties will strengthen inter-port cooperation in the field of transportation, to increase functional activity and port facilities. The parties will cooperate in the framework of the projects to ensure the safety of drinking water, floods and other natural disasters, water saving irrigation techniques and other projects aimed at water conservation. Will ensure accessibility, safety, transport infrastructure, simplified cross-border transport links.

— Financial integration. The parties will expand the scope of their national currencies in trade and investment in the framework of the agreement on currency swaps the Turkish Lira yuan. Turkish and Chinese banks will actively encourage investment. Financial institutions will provide financial support for the development of investment and trade cooperation.

— It will promote interpersonal contacts. Will create medium and long – term model of cooperation in the field of cultural exchange. Will be established twin-city relations between the cities. We will sign agreements on cooperation in such areas as mass media, environmental protection, education, health, culture, cultural centers, arts, tourism, poverty alleviation, social security. Will be a regular contacts at the level of the media, think tanks, students, youth.

— Cooperation funds. For all of these programs will be provided with investment and financial support with participation of state and corporate capital. First of all, to support the program will be the Asian infrastructure investment Bank, a Fund of the silk road and other governmental funds through market operations, funds, international and social funds.
