Russian society is persistently accustomed to the idea of the proximity and inevitability of a new war. In the last days of preparation for stepping up on all levels.
In the context of current Russian foreign and domestic policy developments since 2012, the likelihood of a major war isn’t very big, but for the first time in half a century, its threat really perceived. For example, in fact quite alien war in Syria today can turn into a direct military clash between Russia and the United States. Russia is in this conflict intentionally.
NECESSARY TO FRIGHTEN ALL
Objectively no immediate external military threat to Russia for many decades. Potential threat, of course, as with other countries exist, and therefore need to keep the powder dry is a modern and effective armed forces, of course, Russia needs. But it has nothing to do with unleashed propaganda to the psychological preparation of the population for war.
Have war hysteria subjective reasons. The Russian leadership aims to make Europe once again to divide the world into zones of influence and to recognize the authoritarian semi-criminal enterprise system with non-replaceable power an equal partner. Moreover, the Kremlin does not hide the desire to limit the sovereignty of former Soviet republics. With all of this in the world no one is willing to accept. So Russia threatens war.

— the Europeans should significantly reduce the level of allied relations with the United States and to pursue “independent” policy, i.e. one that is like Russia;
— the post-Soviet space — in perpetuity a zone of Russian interests, and there should be what Russia wants;
Americans need to understand that this is the center of power as they are, because it, too, possesses nuclear weapons. Therefore it is necessary to discuss with Russia on an equal footing;
— because the world just don’t accept it, Russia is ready to fight. And to “mean” foreigners are not thought them a joke, to scare the war-we must all, first and foremost its own people. The state of emergency is very profitable.
ASSOCIATION WITH THE WAR
In order to maintain tension in society must constantly nurture the imagination of people’s associations with the war. For example, the strange message in the national media about the formation of a grain reserve in St. Petersburg. Or the news of resubmission in case of war, governors, police, emergencies Ministry, the FSB and even Regardie the Ministry of defence. Or stories about how government enthusiastically carried out the all-Russian civil defense drill, inspect underground air-RAID shelters in Moscow, happily reporting that the shelter will be able to accommodate all (!) the population of the metropolis.
Leningrad, the norm of bread, a bomb shelter, “all for the army, everything for victory”, in case of war… it is Obvious the impact the combination of these words in the minds of people. Every family was immediately reminded of that terrible war. Now close and almost tangible becomes the future war. People say: better not be. However, to change no one is going. Now it is impossible: in the time of living, but it may be a war. And therefore say thank you though live. And in the elections was the result, about which Putin said: wow, are worse, and for the “United Russia” vote.
Now people are accustomed to the fact that we all can go practically on a war footing. This, apparently, this new tactic of working with people with an eye on presidential elections — not to buy loyalty (for nothing), and put before the fact: here it is as it is, the other will not adapt. We will not change anything!
In Soviet schools and universities in the classroom for civil defense taught how to behave in case of nuclear war, and was then in the course of such a sad joke. The instructions from the textbooks that “at the outbreak of a nuclear explosion it is necessary to quickly lie on the ground legs in the explosion, face down and close your eyes”, students usually complement their own recommendation “to cover a white sheet and slowly move to the cemetery”… On the question of why “slowly”, replied: “not to create a crush”.
However, in the late Soviet time, this joke has caused only a smile. For example, I have never met in those years the person who would have believed that such skills come in handy someday. The war no one wanted, did not believe in it. The society aspired to a very different future, it is far from archaic stylistic design office of civil defense.
Now many believe. Think about the war and talking seriously. Returned after thirty years, the context of actions when “the flash” persistently imposed on society by the state and is not perceived as archaic, and as a postmodern, surreal, but quite possible future. And the old joke about “driving at a cemetery” in the community, walking on the “path which no” ceases to be a hilarious joke.
