Three-quarters of Russians believe that the country’s economic crisis

77% of Russians believe that the country’s economic crisis. These are the results of a poll conducted in June by the “Levada-center”.

16% of respondents said that does not agree with this statement. Another 7% found it difficult to answer the question. In may of this year, the percentage of those who believe that what is happening in Russia, the economic crisis was higher: 82% of participants in a similar survey said that definitely agree or rather agree with the statement about the existence of a crisis.

Every fifth Respondent believes that “the crisis will be very long, its effects will manifest themselves for many years.” Every fourth believes that “it is difficult to say how long it will last and how deep it will be.

67% of Russians have estimated that last year the goods and services they use, on average, has risen by 15% to 50%. While the question did not give the Respondent a chance to answer that prices have declined or remained at the same level.

In June his research on “Protracted downturn in the economy. What do consumers and business in Russia?” published by PwC. Then 79% of respondents reported that the crisis affected them personally; more than a third said that their incomes have decreased over the last 12 months; 84% stated that they began to take measures to reduce their costs.

The vast majority – 88% – of respondents do not plan to borrow in the next year.

“The desire of the population economically to spend money, apparently, has grown into a sustainable habit that will change consumer environment for many years to come,” said Martin, Peters from PwC.
