This is evidenced by the research of scientists from the University of Pennsylvania.

According to experts, potatoes could become a superfood for weight loss and health improvement, if it correctly to prepare — boil in skins, bake, and eat without butter or ketchup.

In the study, 18 men and women ate six to eight small potatoes for lunch and dinner as part of their normal diet.

Most of the volunteers were overweight or obese, and also took pills to lower blood pressure. After a month potato diet their blood pressure readings dropped significantly.

As it turned out, the potato contains a chemical similar in effect to the pills from high blood pressure.
