These products impair the functioning of the brain

American psychiatrists and neurologists told about the foods that lead to brain damage.

Many people know that the brain stimulate salmon, nuts and berries. However, there are some products that can cause brain fog, memory loss and even develop Alzheimer’s.

Six foods that harm the brain, look like this:

Artificial sweeteners. Neurologist David Perlmutter notes that artificial sweeteners bring even greater risk of diabetes than ordinary sugar. And type two diabetes leads to the degeneration of the brain.

Fish with high mercury content. Professor of psychiatry at Presbyterian hospital in new York Gayle Saltz claims that fish, which contains mercury, is toxic and has a negative impact on the part of the brain that is responsible for balance, coordination and vision. To reduce the risk of exposure to mercury, avoid king mackerel, shark meat, swordfish, limit white tuna. Note on mollusks, shrimp, salmon, Pollock and catfish.

Ready sponge cakes. Prepared and packaged biscuits and precooked pizza contain TRANS fats, which adversely affect the brain, cause inflammation and the disruption of transmission of nerve impulses, says psychologist Susan Albers.

Sweet drinks. Neuroscientist Sandra Aamodt advised to avoid sugary drinks because they do not satisfy, but only to stimulate the hunger. When a person consumes a lot of calories, it affects the metabolism and starts the process of deterioration of brain activity.

Gluten products. American psychiatrist Kelly Brogan argues that products with gluten, particularly bread and pasta can lead to depression, psychosis and other mental disorders.

Processed foods. Fast food, soda and other processed foods contain TRANS-fats, and large amounts of sugar and other artificial additives that cause development problems in the brain and in the body as a whole. This is evidenced by the candidate of economic Sciences, head of strategy and programs at the Center for brain health at the University of Texas at Dallas Diana Purvis Gaffin.
