Poland was the first cases of zika virus imported into the country. This is evidenced by research conducted in the laboratory of the University of Warsaw.
According to the Agency, the diagnosis was confirmed in two people who returned to Poland from the Dominican Republic and Colombia.
“To our knowledge, this is the first cases of infection with zika virus in Poland”, – said the representative of the University of Warsaw Dr. Renata Velts-Felenchak.
Status of cases there is no information.
Note that zika fever – an acute infectious disease of monkeys transmitted to man by mosquitoes and characterized by fever benign. The virus is most dangerous for pregnant women, as it causes the fetus to the potential of microcephaly with severe brain damage.
