The world’s first hydrogen-powered train introduced in Germany

The French transport company Alstom presented the world’s first passenger train that will travel along the Railways of Germany, only on hydrogen.

Instead of emissions, accustomed to conventional trains with diesel-powered Coradia train iLint will emit only steam and water drops. The train was first shown to the public at the meeting in Berlin InnoTrans.

Electric motors of the trains are powered by lithium-ion batteries that are charged by hydrogen fuel cells. One hydrogen fueling enough 800 km.

According to the newspaper Die Welt, the train will operate on routes in Lower Saxony, the local authorities have ordered the French 14 trains. If the tests are successful, the experience will be transferred to other areas of Germany.
