The film Director Alexei Mizgirev takes place in the mid-nineteenth century. The protagonist of this story – the professional duelist Yakovlev earning a living that he shoots for other people. Having spent many years in exile in the far North, in 1860, he returned to St. Petersburg to take revenge and regain his family’s good name. Within a few days he becomes a participant in the fateful events that finds a culprit of their troubles and meets a girl that manages to bring him back to life.
