The national Olympic Committee has summed up the results of the sports month.
August was dedicated to the Olympic sport in Rio de Janeiro. Naturally, that athlete of the month in Ukraine became the most successful representative of the country at the Games in Brazil.
For the eighth time in his career award from the NOC will receive 22-year-old gymnast Oleg Vernaeve – a native of Donetsk at the Olympic games won two medals, becoming
Olympic champion in exercises on parallel bars and finishing second in the all-around.
The only competitor Vernaeve in the fight for the title of best athlete of the country in August was Yuri Cheban, who in Rio de Janeiro two-time Olympic champion.
Oleg Verniaiev for the eighth time recognized as athlete of the month according to the version of the NOC of Ukraine. The number of awards from the National Olympic Committee senior gymnast of the country along with Olga Harlan and Elena Pidhrushna is one of the leaders.
In the course of 2016 athletes of the month in Ukraine was Olena Pidhrushna, Irina Varvynets, Sergey Semenov (biathlon), Irina Deha (weightlifting), Veronika Marchenko (archery), Natalia Prischepa (athletics) and Bogdan Nikishin (fencing).
