Ankara intends to arrest at least 42 journalists, they face serious prison terms. According to the news Agency Europe Press, the Turkish authorities believe them to be involved in the failed coup d’état by the military on July 15.

It is assumed that they are among the supporters of the so-called “parallel structure”, which intends to undermine the constitutional order and dismiss the current leadership of the country. In Ankara claim that this group is associated with opposition leader Fethullah gülen. Currently, he lives in the United States, Turkey is trying to secure his arrest and extradition, but in vain.

In the night from 15 to 16 July in Turkey by a group of rebels was an attempted military coup. The coup was suppressed. The clashes killed about 300 people, more than 2 thousand were wounded. The country introduced a state of emergency. Tens of thousands of people were dismissed from government office, ministries, universities. According to the latest figures arrested or detained about 60 thousand people, including soldiers, policemen, judges, professors of higher educational institutions.
