Experts noted that in the course of military operations and the deliberate destruction of significant harm suffered many sites of architectural and archaeological heritage. “This has particularly affected the triumphal arch, the temples of Bel and Balsamina, of the column of the Queen Zenobia with a very important initiations, a large number of towers and underground tombs; the castle of Fakhr al-DIN, dated to the late middle Ages, was partially destroyed,” reads the report.
