The youngest victim was a six-month-old child.
The government of Madagascar launched an investigation into the causes of fire in residential building in the Central part of the country, which killed 38 people, including 16 children.
According to local police, the fire in the village Ambalavao broke out during a rural festival, where participants celebrated the completion of home repairs.
A police spokesman told AFP that at the time of the fire in the house were 39 people, 38 of whom died. The youngest victim was a six-month-old child.
Presumably, the fire started from the charcoal that was used to prepare festive food. According to local newspaper Midi Madagasikara, the people who were in the house, are unable to quickly evacuate because it was pushing the front door, which had to be pulled.
Came to the rescue to help rural residents also are unable to do anything. Managed to save only 14-year-old teenager who jumped out of the window. It is reported that most of the victims were members of the same family.
