The Board of the Ukrainian state concern “Ukroboronprom” named three possible causes of the explosion of ammunition at the company’s facility in the Sumy region, in which three people died, including a NATO spokesman. On Friday, July 29, reported on the website of the company.
The first version — Samotechnaya of the projectile due to the change in the chemical properties of the substance during its storage; the second is the presence of a foreign object; exploded during work, third — a violation of safety rules.
In a press-service of “Ukroboronprom” noted that currently the company’s main focus is the elucidation of the causes of the incident and the exclusion of such cases in the future. “Munitions that are still stored in warehouses, exhausts the period of its validity, therefore, the group once again turns to the relevant agencies with a request to facilitate the early deployment of its own domestic production of modern ammunition for the supply of troops,” — said in a press release of the concern.
The incident occurred on Thursday, July 28, on the territory of scientific research Institute of chemical production near the town of Krolevets. As a result of explosion seven military parts of aircraft missiles Kh-27 killed three people — two of the test and the representative of NATO. Two workers testing stations are in serious condition. Ammunition brought to the facility for the purpose of disposal.
