The most distant from the mainland island in the Adriatic sea for several centuries been inhabited by people, but in the middle of the XX century it was turned into a strategically important object. On the island was built a secret naval base, after which it was denied entry to foreigners.

After the military use of the island of Vis stopped, many of the remaining structures were converted for civilian use, while the other one just remained in ruins.

Today the island of Vis is a peaceful place, which, however, brings a good income from tourists wanting to see the abandoned installations of the cold war.

9. The Treasury Of The Cathedral Of The Assumption, Dubrovnik (Dubrovnik)

In a stunning Cathedral of the diocese of Dubrovnik is more than 200 richly decorated with gold and silver artifacts of religious art.

In the Treasury of the Cathedral, protected from visitors by a glass window, like a gift cupboard kept sacred parts. Beautiful gold plated shelving was custom built for relics of all shapes and sizes.

Among relics that are worth noting especially, gold-plated arm, leg and skull of St. Blaise of Sebastia, that, they say, was the diaper of Jesus and a piece of the real cross.

They say it’s one of the longest fortress system in Europe. Its length is 5 kilometers.

For hundreds of years Croats were faced with the hordes trying to invade their land. In the nineteenth century they fought with the Ottoman Empire from the South, and today they face no less intense influx of hordes of tourists from Northern and Western Europe.

In stone these two forces, historical and economic, was found in the middle. An hour walk from the town of Jablanac, in the crystal clear waters of the Bay of Zavratnica (Zavratnica), at a depth of several meters have found their last resting place by a German ship during the Second world war.

The impressive wreckage of the German vessel in clear water, make this place ideal for lovers of scuba diving.

The impressive sculpture, authored by Dusan Dzamonja, was erected in 1967.

4. Museum of divorces, Zagreb (Zagreb)

A Museum dedicated to broken relationships, arose as a result of a personal drama of two Zagreb artists who have decided to save in one place evidence of their past love and once happy relationship.
