The safest country in the world in terms of natural disasters – Qatar, in Europe – Malta

Самая безопасная страна в мире в плане природных катастроф – Катар, в Европе - Мальта

From natural disasters no one is safe, they can occur at any point of the world. But still there are countries where the risk will be lower. According to the news Agency Europe Press, citing a report of the Institute for environment and human security United Nations University, the highest security are the residents of Qatar.

The risk in this country, earthquake, hurricane, flood or drought is just 0.88 percent. In second place and Malta (0.62 percent), followed by Saudi Arabia (1.1 percent), Barbados (1.22 percent), Granada (1.44 percent).

On the opposite side of the ranking, consisting of 171 country is Vanuatu (36,72%). Next to him is Tonga (28.45 percent), Philippines (27,98%), Guatemala (20.1 percent), Solomon Islands (19.29%).

In Europe, apart from Malta the highest level of safety in terms of natural disasters differ Iceland, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Estonia, Switzerland and Luxembourg. The worst situation in the Netherlands, Greece and Romania.

In the study, the experts evaluated the strength and number of natural disasters in 2015, their impact on the infrastructure (access to potable water, food, medicines, condition of houses), the responsiveness of the authorities, the speed of economic recovery (here also considered the level of corruption in the country).

Among other things it was noted that 80 percent of those who suffer from a lack of food, live in areas at risk of natural disasters. But this rule does not always work. So, in Japan, earthquakes happen quite often, but due to its developed economy, the country quite successfully copes with the consequences of the disaster. At the same time, in Liberia, the population is in poverty, despite the rarity of natural disasters.
