The Pontiff was welcomed by the Georgian people.
Pope Francis during his visit to Tbilisi said about wanting to be friends with the Georgian people.
“I wholeheartedly want to be friends with this country and with this people who didn’t forget you receive good and hospitable nature of these people fully complies with the hopeful rules their lives… I’m glad God gave me the opportunity to visit this Holy land,” he said at a meeting with Patriarch Ilia II.
In turn Ilia II welcomed the Pontiff and called him a “beloved brother”.
