In the Vatican, during a traditional Sunday sermon October 9, Pope Francis announced the appointment of 17 new cardinals.
According to the Russian service bi-Bi-si, the appointment ceremony is scheduled for November 19.
New cardinals represent the five continents and 11 countries. 13 of them are younger than 80 years, so they will be able to participate in the election of the next Pope.
