Ukraine belongs to its place in European history as a sovereign nation and the state. This was stated by the President of Germany, Joachim gauck during the events dedicated to the memory of victims of Babi Yar, the correspondent of”UKRINFORM”.
“Since the end of the cold war, the Ukrainians have reminded us that they have their place in European history. They reminded us that Ukraine today and in the future belongs to a place in the family of Nations as a sovereign nation and the state whose territorial integrity is to be respected,” said gauck, and added that in Germany of Ukrainians believe the fighters for freedom, democracy and statehood. They are, in his words, are part of the “European community of values.”
Babi Yar became world famous as a place of mass executions of civilians, mainly Jews, Gypsies, Karaites of Kiev, and Soviet prisoners of war by the German occupying forces and Ukrainian collaborators in 1941.
