Germany has a special responsibility for peace and understanding in the world. This is stated in a statement released today the foreign Minister of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier on the occasion of the end of world war II in Europe.
“71 years ago has come to the end of the Second world war, Europe lay in ruins, he said. – Our country, which in the twentieth century has brought so many wars and suffering, could return to the heart of the world community.”
“Europe has become an outstanding project of cooperation and dialogue. We’re grateful for it, – said Steinmeier. – We Germans have a special responsibility in establishing peace and mutual understanding, especially in times of crisis such as today.” (Quoted by TASS.)
