Sanctions are the freezing of Bank assets in the EU and a ban on issuing visas for travel to the EU.
The European Union adopted the decision to extend another six months the sanctions against 146 persons and 37 companies for violation of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine. This is stated on the website of the EU Council.
The decision was taken without debate, by written procedure.
Economic sanctions aimed at specific sectors of the Russian economy, extended until 31 January 2017. Restrictive measures in response to the illegal annexation of Crimea and Sevastopol, not limited to the territory of Crimea and Sevastopol extended until 23 June 2017.
On 7 September the EU at the level of permanent representatives of the member States (COREPER) confirmed the intention of the EU Council to extend for an additional six months of preventive measures for actions against territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine, until March 15, 2017.
The sanctions relate to the freezing of assets and ban on entry into the EU for 146 people and 37 companies.
