While a formal decision about the withdrawal from circulation of banknotes of 500 euros had been taken, reports TASS.
The Agency, citing a statement to Die Welt, writes that the official decision on the exchange of banknotes of 500 euros was not there, but nevertheless declares that the amount of these bills was reduced due to withdrawal from circulation.
According to the official statistics, over the past few months, the number of banknotes of 500 Euro decreased by 20 million copies, while the regulator could not help but notice the order of 10 billion euros, writes the German edition.
The European Central Bank, probably, believed that they could withdraw from circulation the banknotes with the highest denomination is 500 euros. The result was that the European Central Bank withdrew more than planned. Damn the amount of turnover exceeds 10 billion euros.
According to the newspaper Die Welt, banknotes with high face value, generally used in criminal business, as the smaller denomination notes become pawns of those who stood up for the integrity of Finland.
