The DPRK has temporarily banned weddings and funerals

North Korean authorities introduced a temporary ban on conducting weddings, funerals and other special events.

The ban is associated with increased security measures before the VII Congress of the workers ‘ party of Korea, according to the newspaper Sunday Times, citing officials from South Korea.

The South Korean Agency Yonhap reports that in connection with the preparation for the Congress also restricted entry to Pyongyang, in addition, the authorities strengthened the surveillance of their citizens, as well as supervision of the border with China.

The Agency believes that the DPRK leadership before the Congress is trying to create an atmosphere of fear within the country. This should reduce crime and to keep people from trying to go abroad.

The Convention will start this Friday and needs to strengthen the power of North Korean leader Kim Jong-UN. The Congress needs to be accepted in the basic directions external and internal policy of the DPRK.
