The doctors told us how chocolate affects vision

Врачи рассказали, как шоколад влияет на зрениеDark chocolate increases visual acuity in situations of poor visibility, e.g. in foggy weather.

In addition, chocolate improves brain function, lowers blood pressure and normalizes cholesterol levels, insulin sensitivity and platelet count….

Researchers from the University of reading, UK, attracted to their work, 30 men and women aged 18-25 years, by analyzing the data of ophthalmologic examination and tests of thinking in two hours after they ate chocolate. The experiment was conducted twice with the use of dark chocolate and light chocolate. The difference between these two types of chocolate, is the number of flavanols, which are natural components of cocoa, a huge number of which are contained in dark chocolate.

The results showed that the participants who were given dark chocolate, it is better to take tests on visual function and some brain function. Scientists believe that a similar positive effect of “blame” it is the flavanols that promote increased blood flow in the brain. Perhaps these substances also improve blood flow to the retina.

In addition to cocoa, flavanols contained in grapes, green and black tea, red wine and apples.
